The skill levels have been locked for the Southwest Challenge for teams that have submitted their entry form. Late sign up teams won’t get their skill levels locked for the event until we receive the entry form and full payment. We will still take late sign ups at this time, but time is running out to do so without added administration fees. We do have a team or two that are looking for a 3rd player. If you are a skill level 3, give the league office a call. It’s looking like about 45 teams will be representing San Diego at the Riviera for this fun annual weekend getaway tournament.
The fees section of your score sheet needs to explain what is being paid. Whatever you are including besides the $40 weekly fees is what should be documented in the fees section. Rather than listing John’s $8.00 and Suzie’s $8.00, put a money symbol next to their name on the roster if you need something to remind you who has paid so far and who hasn’t. The least amount of confusion created for our bookkeeping, the better it will be for everyone. If Ray Ray paid his membership fees, that’s what you document in the fees section. Write $25.00 in there. If he actually gave you $33 because he also played a match, put a money symbol next to Ray Ray’s name on the roster section of the score sheet. If you are paying for someone’s Jack and Jill or Southwest Challenge entry fee, tell us who the money is supposed to pay for and document that amount. If you have a credit and you wish to apply it towards the fees, document that in the fees section. If you are submitting a past due payment, document that separately as well. Whatever you are listing in the fee section should add up to $40 less than the total amount due. The $40 is already documented in the fees section. Please make absolutely sure that the total you write in adds up to the amount you are actually submitting.
When making out checks to the league office, make sure you write the amount clearly on the check. We had an incident recently where $8.00 looked like $80.00 and the check was cashed for $80.00 and made the person’s account short for covering other checks that were written. 2 different banks didn’t catch that it was supposed to be an $8.00 check.
March 1st is the deadline for anyone that was a prorated membership renewal to still be eligible for the $15.00 renewal price. You must have paid your 2012 membership after August 15th in order to receive a prorated membership for 2013.

The Spring Regional is taking place this coming weekend, and we hope to start it and finish it on Saturday, and 8 players will advance to the APA National Singles Championships from this group. Some of our members will participate in a different regional event due to low participation numbers in those tiers, and some members from other areas will be participating in our event because of the same reason.
Many of you should be receiving your membership cards in the mail soon, if you haven’t already. Be sure to check out all of the available discounts your APA membership card is good for through the APA National Office’s web site www.poolplayers.com You can also take advantage of discounts locally just for being an APA member. An APA membership can save you a lot more money than an APA membership actually costs. All it takes is double checking rental cars, hotels, local billiard supply stores and pool rooms. There are over 50 discounters listed on the National site alone.
